Oliver Archibald
Hi! My name is Oliver Archibald and I am a mental health counselor in NYS.
Shout out to you for beginning your journey with psychotherapy and the process of change! If you’re experiencing strained relationships with significant others, family, friends, or even in your relationship with yourself, psychotherapy can be a great place to move closer to a more fulfilling and aligned life. I strive to create a personalized space where you will experience the practice of becoming the person you would like to be while exploring new perspectives and updating your coping toolkit. I aim to respect and incorporate each client’s experience of culture, race, neurodivergence, gender identity, sexuality, and faith into treatment. Whether you are looking for short-term solution-oriented or long-term in-depth exploration and change, I provide a compassionate, humorous, transparent, and engaging approach.
Taking the first step toward change can be the hardest—I’m here to help you reach the life you’ve been working toward.
The couples I work with often find themselves stuck in repeating patterns of conflict, distance, or misunderstanding. Many feel caught in cycles where one partner pursues while the other withdraws, where small disagreements quickly escalate, or where emotional injuries from the past continue to shape the present. They come seeking closeness, stability, and a way to feel safe with one another again—along with practical tools to communicate more effectively and rebuild trust. Our work together often brings a sense of relief and renewed hope, as partners begin to understand their patterns and reconnect in deeper, more meaningful ways.

Drawing on Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), attachment theory, and trauma-informed relational approaches, I help couples make sense of the emotions driving their interactions and develop new ways of responding to each other. Treatment is tailored to each relationship’s unique rhythm, supporting partners as they strengthen communication, repair emotional injuries, and cultivate a secure bond. This work offers couples not only strategies for healthier interaction but also the capacity to feel more connected, supported, and aligned in their lives together.
